What is SampLin ?

SampLin is Scientific Data Acquisition, Visualization and Process Control software for Linux and other unix platforms.

SampLin dates back to September '97 when I started writing simple program to be able to control mass and optical spectrometers and few other devices in our plasma lab at TU-WIEN. Later on I decided to continue this project with aim to create a complete laboratory data acquisition framework for Linux. Currently SampLin seems to be pretty usable, however there's still much to implement & improve.

SampLin is distributed under the terms of GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE

• simple script language with widget and device support
• local or network data acquisition via RPC protocol
• support for GPIB, SERIAL or generic devices (labcards with suitable driver)
• multiple dataseries plotting widget with load/save export (text format) and print (postscript) commands
• driver for Advantech PCL-818 labcard included (However only autodetect and AD/DA conversion implemented now)
• driver for Advantech PCL-727 12-channel D/A card
• driver for Advantech PCL-812 card

• glibc based Linux (2.0, 2.2, 2.4 or 2.6.x kernels) system running X11R6, egcs or gcc 3.2.x, RPC, threadsafe libraries
• Qt3.x-mt (the multithreaded version)
  
• Flex++, Bison++ if you want to modify script language grammar

• For older Versions (<=1.5.x) egcs or gcc 2.x, Qt1.44, KDE libs 1.1
• libgpib (Linux Lab Project GPIB library) drivers if you need GPIB support

• an 'up-to-date' system with glibc2.3, libstdc++5-3.2, XFree4.3, Qt3.3-mt, e.g. Mandrake 10.0 upgraded to qt3.3 should be ok.
